Do You Pay for Your Prescriptions?

Prescriptions are free for:

  • Men and women over sixty
  • Pregnant women with a valid maternity certificate
  • Children under sixteen or up to nineteen in full-time education
  • Mothers of babies under twelve months
  • People who receive income support (check list on Form P11 from Social Security or Post Office)
  • People with family credit
  • Certain chronic conditions

If you are not entitled to free prescriptions, a ‘season ticket’ may save you money. This is a pre-payment certificate, please ask Reception for details.

Repeat Prescriptions

The Doctors may sometimes decide that you may have some of your regular medication without seeing the Doctor each time.  If this is the case, your prescription will have a slip attached detailing the items you can have repeated. To obtain a new prescription you can:

  • Sign up to our on-line ordering scheme, please ask for more information at reception. (If you have already signed up you can click on one of the links below).
  • Bring the slip to the Surgery and post it in the box in the foyer. Blank slips are available in the foyer for completion if you do not have one.
  • Post the slip to the Surgery.  Please note that for security reasons we are unable to post out prescriptions.

Please make sure you order your prescriptions 5 – 7 days before you will run out.

Please allow 2 whole working days before collection.  The 2 working days starts when we receive your instruction during a normal working day and does not start when you instruct a local pharmacy or put a prescription counterfoil through our letterbox if we are closed.

For safety reasons requests cannot be accepted by telephone.
